Kathryn + I have been instagram friends for quite a few years now – so when Erik proposed + she reached out about capturing their wedding in Upstate New York – I was BEYOND excited. After talking with Kathryn about her dreams + vision for her wedding day, I knew I was about to walk into the most romantic weekend ever.
I had the honor of traveling to New York a few days early + attending Kathryn’s Bachelorette dinner. Kathryn was kind enough to let me stay at her mom’s house (where most of the girls were staying) as all of the wedding festivities were walking distance from there. The next day I celebrated with her family + friends as I captured the rehearsal dinner at the little church across the street. We then took some romantic sunset photos of K+E at Mills Mansion right down the road – where they were getting married the next day. The girls then spent the evening making their (very beautiful) bouquets together. By the time their wedding morning rolled around I truly felt like part of the family + could not wait to capture all of the magic that I knew was coming.
Kathryn got ready on the back porch of her mother’s house – making sure to bring a bouquet of fresh flowers with her. I’ve never seen a bride SO giddy to marry the love of her life. It was the cutest thing. The morning was full of so many beautiful details leading up to the ceremony by the Hudson River. The ceremony was emotional + beautiful. While photographing cocktail hour – every guest would tell me what a great job I was doing + offer me food/drinks. At every moment of this wedding I felt so cared for – Kathryn + Erik have the loveliest people in their lives. The reception started in the usual way – with a really romantic first dance that didn’t last long as they asked all of their guests to dance with them. After the sweetest speeches, Kathryn SHOCKED me (+ many others) by singing a flawless rendition of “I’ve Got a Crush on You” by Frank Sinatra to her new husband. At this point I definitely felt like I was dreaming. We then snuck away to take some gorgeous sunset bridals – where Kathryn changed into her second dress of the evening. They danced together on the porch of Mills Mansion as their reception music echoed across the property. The rest of the night was such a blur but I distinctly remember a few of Kathryn’s sweet bridesmaids coming up to me and saying things like, “Isn’t she a dream? You’re basically shooting Audrey Hepburn’s wedding.” It really was such a dream come true.
Love you two so much – cannot wait to visit Hudson Valley sometime with Nick + explore all the wineries together!
